The National Register of Historic Places database for the state of New Hampshire is distributed by GRANIT as 3 coverages in ARC EXPORT format and one text file. 1) NRHP.E00 A point coverage which contains a summary of items from the related data files. 2) PROPD.E00 This is a set of info files exported as a coverage. There is no spatial data in this coverage. An empty coverage was created and then exported in order to group multiple INFO files into one ARC EXPORT format file. Importing the coverage PROPD will yield an empty coverage and 16 associated data files, named PROPD.1 to PROPD.16. 3) MASTER.E00 This is a set of info files exported as a coverage. There is no spatial data in this coverage. An empty coverage was created and then exported in order to group multiple INFO files into one ARC EXPORT format file. Importing the coverage MASTER will yield an empty coverage and 18 associated data files, named MASTER.1 to MASTER.18. 4) NRHP.TXT This file. The file below was modified to better reflect the data format being distributed by GRANIT. The data file names have been altered for GRANIT distribution (ie. PROPD1.TXT to PROPD.1). (TF 12/7/95) NATIONAL PARK SERVICE NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES (413) P.O. BOX 37127 WASHINGTON, DC 20013-7127 (202) 343-9543 INTRODUCTION The National Register Information System (NRIS) is a data base of over 62,000 historic buildings, districts, sites, structures and objects listed on, removed from, or pending listing in the National Register. DISKETTE DOCUMENTATION The data files are INFO format files. With the help of the enclosed materials you should be able to get what you need. There are only two kinds of data files here-- those that begin with PROPD followed by a number, and those that begin with MASTER followed by a number. Join the MASTER sets to the PROPD sets using the appropriate code and the PROPD sets to each other using the unique reference number (REFNUM) common to each . You may, of course, use all or only selected data files, depending upon your need. With the exception of PROPD16, all the one to one relationships in the PROPD files are in the PROPD1 file and the one to many relation- ships are in the remaining PROPD files. The one to one acreage information in PROPD16 is represented in a separate file only because of problems on my end of representing this rather long decimal decimal number in the correct output format. You may want to put it back where it properly belongs, in PROPD1.
