| Abstract: The Nature Conservancy developed a mapped classification of lakes and ponds and rivers and streams based on variables that structure aquatic natural communities and that could be mapped consistently across Northeastern US. The primary types are described in the "Northeast Terrestrial and Aquatic Habitat Guide", December 2015. Estuarine and Marine habitat was classified using the National Wetlands Inventory data provided by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, 2020.
