NAIP provides two main products: 1 meter ground sample distance (GSD) ortho imagery rectified to a horizontal accuracy of within +/- 5 meters of reference digital ortho quarter quads (DOQQ's) from the National Digital Ortho Program (NDOP) or from the National Agriculture Imagery Program (NAIP); 1 meter GSD ortho imagery rectified to within +/- 6 meters to true ground. The tiling format of NAIP imagery is based on a 3.75' x 3.75' quarter quadrangle with a 300 meter buffer on all four sides. NAIP quarter quads are formatted to the UTM coordinate system using NAD83. NAIP imagery may contain as much as 10% cloud cover per tile. This file was generated by compressing NAIP quarter quadrangle tiles that cover a county. Two types of compression may be used for 2008 NAIP imagery: MrSID and JPEG 2000. Target values for the compression ratio are (15:1). Purpose: NAIP imagery is available for distribution within 60 days of the end of a flying season and is intended to provide current information of agricultural conditions in support of USDA farm programs. For USDA Farm Service Agency, the 1 meter GSD product provides an ortho image base for Common Land Unit boundaries and other data sets. The 1 meter NAIP imagery is generally acquired in projects covering full states in cooperation with state government and other federal agencies who use the imagery for a variety of purposes including land use planning and natural resource assessment. With an annual cycle, NAIP is also used for disaster response often providing the most current pre-event imagery. Source_Contribution: Mosaicked County Image Process_Step: Process_Description: Data processing of ADS40-SH51 imagery and metadata is a streamlined digital workflow process utilizing commercial softcopy photogrammetric software including Leica GPro, IPAS, PictoVera, and Orthovista. Download and extraction of raw flight data and aircraft attitude data is done using GPro. Airborne GPS and IMU data is post-processed using IPAS software to solve for differential GPS coordinates against base station(s). The post- processed GPS output data is displayed on a flight profile plot, which clearly shows the RMS values of the combined separation, C/A Code and Carrier Phase. The output GPS/IMU data is also verified by a PDOP plot and PDOP values are compared to an acceptable threshold range. PictoVera is used for aerial- triangulation (AT), automated point measurement (APM), gradient correction, and rectification to a surface model. Orthorectified imagery is checked and radiometrically balanced using the Orthovista Radiometrics Editor. Seamline placement is done through Orthovista Seam Editor. For relative accuracy requirements, each image is then evaluated against the underlying original DOQQ using proprietary software to determine the goodness of fit. Once positional accuracy, relative to the corresponding baseline ortho imagery, is verified, the orthorectified imagery is cut to USGS 3.75-Minute DOQQ extents with a 300-Meter buffer. The resulting 3.75-Minute NAIP-DOQQs are grouped according to county coverage and compressed to MrSID or JPEG2000 format at a 15:1 compression ratio.
